Astrophysics, Thriller Novels, and Superheros

What I’ve been up to lately, well…

First, I went to an Astrophysics seminar a few weeks ago, with my mom, my Marine Eco teacher, and my brother’s Bio teacher. It changed my life. The main speaker this year was, wait for it, Neil DeGrasse Tyson!

That’s right. Neil DeGrasse Tyson!!!

^Lol, I thought that was funny. He was amazing! Mind blowing! I know so much more about the Universe! Or, I should rather say, the Multiverse. God! It was incredible! I’d go into it, but then I’d be writing for hours.

Then, the Avengers came out over here in America. One of my all time favorite films now! I saw it on the Saturday after the release. I was going with my friend Danielle, it wouldn’t start until 7:30, so we were going to meet around 6:15 and have dinner. Yeahhhhh, no. 1) It was POURING down rain, I don’t like going 60mph on the highway in rain like THAT! I thought for sure I was going to die. 2) I went to pick up the tickets before hand, so we wouldn’t have to wait in line, but it was pouring, and the theater was packed. I had to park so far away, I got soaked to the bone walking that far for the tickets. 3) I got to Chick-Fil-A 10 minutes early, I was wet, there was A/C, I was freezing. 4) Danielle was late. Really late. Like over an hour late. So I was a bit like this, for over an hour:

Luckily I was able to sit awkwardly at a table, with no food, texting Lysz. That really made it better, the Lysz part, not the awkward part. Eventually I just ordered some hot tea, cos it was damn cold. Anyway, she eventually showed up, and we had to go straight to the theater, but Avengers was AMAZING! Totally worth it! Except she made me leave before I could wait and watch the bits after the credits :(

But, I went to see it again last Thursday with my friend Jacob.

A great day. We went on a school night, I talk in movies sometimes, and so does he! It was great! I didn’t even get home until like 11 something, and my mom was perfectly okay with it! I had a wonderful time with Jacob, we’re going to hang out again soon :)

In my video class we’re making an instructional video, I’m SO CLOSE to doing this to someone in the group

I don’t think I’ve ever felt pure fiery hatred for anyone quite like this before. I can’t stand him! He irks me. I even had to try and text Lysz the other day so that she would talk me out of beating the shit out of the guy right then and there.

Well 1) he wants to do a video on “a pedophiles guide (for kids) on how to tie your shoes.” Or something like that. I want to punch him in the face. He says the weirdest things. He seems to think that this video will be “funny,” I think it’s disgusting. 2) He curses, a lot, like every-other-word kind of cursing. Want to punch him. Just the other day, he said something a long the lines of “whenever anything needs to get done in this group, I’m always the one doing it.” He hasn’t done jack. I tried everything to avoid getting to this point. I fought him all the way on this idea.

I wanted to do a video on technical theater, hanging lights basic info and safety procedures. But no. It’s like everything I say goes in one ear, and out the other. He’s an asshole. He think’s he’s the most amazing person in the world, but he’s not! He sucks! I can’t stand him! And there is this other kid, who doesn’t do ANYTHING. But, he’s on Will’s side. So it’s me up against them. It’s a bit like this:

Lol, I suppose that gif doesn’t “really” fit, but I just wanted to use it xD I had a really awesome idea, and they think they have an awesome idea (but it’s just really stupid and nasty.) I was outnumbered, and I’m the newbie. They won’t listen to me. I’m amazing I’ve gone this long without doing this:

Okay, what else did I want to talk about? Um. Oh right! Jeffery Deaver! I got two more books signed Tuesday ;) (I think it was Tuesday.) Carte Blanche and The Blue Nowhere. Jeffery Deaver is my all time favorite writer EVER! I love his work! He’s amazing! Martin’s mom works at the Quail Ridge Books store, and I gave her a list of my favorite authors and told her to call me if any of them were there for a speaking. Well, it’s after school, I’ve showered early, I’m in my PJs, wet unruly hair, no make-up, and I get a text. I got dressed so fast, ran out the door, and drove to the book store. I was the youngest there by at least 30 years, it was kind of funny, but I loved it!

I think that’s everything. Egg drop project tomorrow, school’s almost over. Next week is the last week before exams, and I should be exempt from all of them except my CTE class.

Later,

Amanda

I’d Come Up With a Witty Title, But I’m in a Hurry.

I’ve had a pretty good week. Haven’t really gotten to talk to Lysz lately though, we’ve both been busy, and on different schedule really. Prom is on Saturday, I’m going with Mark, the theme is Titanic. I’ve got a long burgundy dress, black lace fingerless gloves, high heals, I’m going to have my hair styled, and I’m going to do my make-up all special. Kinda like this, but not a wedding just, just pure awesomeness:

I had a math test today, got a 96 (Ms. K grades really freakin’ fast.) Yesterday in Video, we started working on a  faux-WCAP episode (the school’s news thingy.) Mr. M assigned everyone positions, and guess what, I’m the Director. I get to tell EVERYONE what to do ;) Lots of fun! But also, nerve wrecking. In English we’re studying Vietnam. We just finished watching “Apocalypse Now.” It was really good! I’m surprised I haven’t seen it before now. The name, however, misled me. I was so sure that it took place in some futuristic world dominated by machines or something, like the Matrix, and that the film would end with “I love the smell of Napalm in the morning.” Oh how wrong I was! I have no idea where i got that from. It’s like, when I was a kid, I thought Brad Pitt was a football player.

My birthday was last week. I’m 18!!! I got a drawing tablet, it’s amazing, I didn’t know if I’d like it, b/c frankly I’m a traditionalist with certain things. But it’s awesome! I’ve started this drawing:

Again, it’s been really fun :) But, obviously, it’s incomplete.

Oh! Yesterday, we thought someone was firing shots outside at my house. I was just sitting at my desk, working on a math web assign, iPod turned up pretty high, and then, BAMM!!! There was a bit of a flash outside, and a crazy loud noise! I jumped out of my seat! I was like “holy shit!” All the neighbors had come outside too. In the past year I’ve gotten a ton of new neighbors. I’d hardly ever seen the others, but this is the THIRD crazy thing to happen lately. I’m really getting to know all of these people ;) First, Earthquake (It’s North Carolina, those are RARE), second, a giant tree had a dead limb, it just crashed down one day on the power line (lots of sparks, the thing was big enough to be it’s own tree.) Third, yesterday, we’re not really sure what happened, but we think an electrical transformer exploded. It sounded like a gun, so I just stayed back for a while. I’m usually the person saying:

But hey, my week’s been a bit like:

It’s almost time for graduation. Barely even 20 days left of classes! I’m almost free! Then I’m off to Deutschland! ;) I got a travel book for my birthday, I can’t wait to look through it. Right now, I’m going over to Chapel Hill for a big science convention. It’s gonna be awesome. I’ll update again soon ;)
